Big nuptials in da house

We had a delectable time at the wedding of our pals Dom and H-bomb. Not only were there scotch egg canapes, but it was a top service and a delicious feed, made even tastier by watching one of our chums expose raw emotion. Never has the Peasant in Clerkenwell witnessed such tears. We were also lucky enough to play the wedding disco. Props to Jill Nando's on this one. Smashed it up good and proper innit.

Let's play a game of fuck off - you go first

Vibes have been heavy and fat over the last few months. Whether it's been celebrating weddings in Rotherham to getting it on at Notting Hill Carnival in torrential rain, there's been a constant tidal wave of great shit to roll around in. Summer 2014 - it's been a pleasure. Here's some more 'moments'...

How to play a wedding disco

In Copenhagen back in June alongside the wedding frolics was a wedding DJ set from moi.

It consisted of some insider intel from the happy couple, a bit of research and an innate sense of whether a tune is a tune. Throw in a suit, some sweaty palms, a week or two of worrying and about ten pints and you have the backdrop to the whole vibe. Keep them 12 inches, re-edited and pop and you're away. It got laid down. Dig into a slight bit of the vibe below...

Copenhagen 2014

Scandianavia may once have been the home of the Vikings but on our recent trip it seemed now to be the land of the overpriced pint. The beers were still totally, completely delicious (obvs) but when you’re coughing up seven quid a pop you begin to feel like you’re being pillaged as much as you’re getting pissed.

No matter, mad vibes were afoot as we were in Copenhagen to ‘large it’ (as any self-respecting Viking might have once said) for a wedding. The flex was four days of intense, late night drinking with the marriage thrown slap bang in the middle. The backdrop was a city full of aesthetically similar humans, bicycles and lakes of Tuborg.

Unsurprisingly, much of our trip was spent swimming, some times drowning, in these lakes. After getting up at 3.30am to catch our flight, we spent the first 24 hours continuously boozing, aided by an altercation with a quartet of firey espresso martinis. At one in the morning we were chewing on coffee beans and ended up heading off to the last available watering hole in the Danish capital to sink more lagers until light.

Friday was slightly more sedate with a bit of a sweat over a soundsystem (moi was the chosen wedding selector on the big night itself - eek) while Saturday saw the bells toll and the union go down. It was a suitably sweet and funny do with plenty of manly Guiness supping, smoking, shouting and eating before total chaos descended. There was a hoe down, large amounts of Whitney and Mel and Kim plus some unfortunate soilage and locking out. Big ups to the happy couple for letting us run totally riot. It was wild.

The next day’s hangover boozy brunch ended up in a pub crawl which ended up in boarding a ‘party bus’ which ended up in Christiana – the lawless district where you leave your rules and your wits at the door. We discovered the Green Light district where you can purchase relaxants via shady looking gents hiding in stalls under camouflage netting. It’s a weird place to visit especially under the cover of night but was a fitting full stop to a huge jaunt indeed…
